RMSA is proposing to build the Rocky Mountain Regional Seed Vault somewhere in the Rocky Mountain West.
RMSA is looking for a location to build a regional seed vault that will serve to protect, preserve and increase the seed diversity found within the western mountain states. Please contact John Caccia This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to discuss or suggest a secure vault location in your community.
Our goal for this long-term seed storage facility is to provide secure seed backup as a free service to RMSA Seed Stewards, as well as growers, breeders, and seed savers throughout the Mountain West. In addition, the Seed Vault could serve as an outreach and educational center to share RMSA’s work with visitors.
Since starting the Rocky Mountain Seed Alliance, we have discovered some remarkable collections of crop diversity being quietly stewarded by passionate seed savers on their farms and homesteads. These priceless gems are uniquely adapted to thrive in our Rocky Mountain communities. They are our seeds—and they must be protected.
