Week 5- Amaranth
Amaranth is an annual, warm season crop-not frost tolerant. Ideal planting when soil temp >60 degrees. Does best in fertile, well drained soil but can adapt to a variety of conditions. Drought tolerant though the mechanism is not specifically known. One trait that helps is the ability to wilt temporarily then bounce back after rainfall. In my opinion, any plant that is drought tolerant should show great promise for our climate change world.
