Reflections on the Mountain West Seed Summit
We are still buzzing from the energy and inspiration of the first Mountain West Seed Summit. It was a dizzying effort, but with support from so many, including our Summit partner the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union, the conference went off without a hitch!
Around 200 attendees and presenters came together to explore the concept of regional seed hubs linking local seeds and local food producers. We shared ideas, resources, and passion. A key result was the creation of bioregional groups that are now taking steps to create seed hubs in their home communities!
This momentum will continue in the weeks and months to come. RMSA will be playing an active role in the process to keep this work advancing. If you couldn't make the Summit but want to get involved, now is a perfect time. Ride this wave of excitement with us! Click here to explore RMSA's programs, become a Supporting Member, and learn more about ways you can help the local seed movement.
Stay tuned for news of another Mountain West Seed Summit, possibly in 2018!

Funding for this program is being provided by the Kalliopeia Foundation. Their mission is to respond to the critical issues of our time by supporting ecological renewal informed by spiritual awareness. We are so proud to count them as one of our key funders.
Once again, the Kalliopeia Foundation has granted funds to provide scholarships for eligible students (They graciously funded our first Training in 2015). If you are committed to a different seed paradigm but finances are preventing you from attending, contact us about a scholarship. Email
Impossible? Never!
Seeds make miracles happen. Amazing news from our friends in Flathead Valley, Montana. Seed School graduate and founder of the Good Seed Company, Robin Kelson, was floored to have 1,900 people show up at her community's 2nd annual Free the Seeds Fair last month. That's 2% of the area's population!
According to Robin, who helped coordinate the event, “Seed School is directly responsible for this and all that’s coming to fruition here. RMSA nurtured a plant that is reseeding itself everywhere!” Read more about the event in this excellent article in the Flathead Beacon.
Robin and friends also unveiled their new county seed library Flathead Grows! at the Governor’s Local Food and AgricuAgriculturet last October. The Good Seed Company team have set the intention to help create a seed exchange/library in every county in Montana by 2020. Talk about motivation. You go, Robin!
